Re: [RC] snakes on trail vs turkeys - Born CountryNo, I don't know her. I live in the panhandle, near Tallahassee. Where does she live? Maybe we can get together for some conditioning rides. Got to know her when her horse got EPM and since I went thru it with my Bay horse, I emailed her alot. Glad to say her mare did make it and has been back on trail. Near here is a great riding place called St. Marks Wildlife Refuge where we ride along dikes, with alligators on either side that no longer startleourhorses when they ker-splash into the water. Therearealso deer, turkeys, otters, snakes and raccoons, justto name a few of the critters we've run up on. Apparently, someone got the brilliant notion of turning their unwanted emus loose in the refuge! Haven't encountered one yet, but I'm constantly onthelook-out for that thundering herd to bear down onmypoor unsuspecting horse any day. Had oneofmy juniors ride right over mom turkey and little ones. Mom took off, Becky fell off but missedthelittle ones. Prince ran away but not far. Evertopa hill and startle a bunch of turkeys? I swearthesaddle horn goosed me when my horse stopped deadinhis tracks. Also have chased turkeys down trail much to my horse's discomfort! Too funny.Wouldrather run across turkeys on trail than a bear. Life is quite interesting when booking downtrail. It is a matter of never quite relaxing andalways beready tor the 'big gotcha'!!
