[RC] re: pleasure/training/endurance - Teresa Van Hove

As a non 'endurance' rider I can readily go along with
Tom's statement of 25s are pleasure rides, 50's training and
100's endurance; as I've almost always found riding a 25 to
be a pleasure and either the horse or I seems to learn
something every 50. As I said I haven't experienced it, but
I can certainly allow that 100's would be a true endurance test.

But Monte's statement of 1/4 and 1/2 rides is just insulting and
ridiculous. Outside of the rodeo circuit (8 seconds) or maybe
getting pulled, there's no such thing as a partial ride. If I
hop on the horse and work 20 planned minuted in the ring or
tool down the road 4 easy miles I rode the horse; I did not
1/25 ride the horse. We're all riders, even if we have not
all demonstrated 'true endurance'.

Teresa and Grey MOun (20+ training rides and 5-10 pleasure rides)
