[RC] heroes/hidalgo - Ed Kilpatrick

well shoot now!  this can get touchy cant it?  i havent read much about frank hopkins or his claims.  as long as this movie is listed as being fictitious, then i wont get too worked up about it.  heck, there are lots of movies that have been made that were based on fact, but sure didnt represent what actually happened very well.  and what about that great endurance race of 1908?  anybody know much about that?  did it happen that way?  another thing too, so many tales get better with the telling and the teller!  i have sat around camp and listened to people recount ride events, things that i witnessed during the day, and it is surprising how quickly the facts can get distorted! i do sense a little bit of arab horse bias coming out in some of the comments however. the premier endurance breed, right?  absolutely!  but not the only endurance breed.  i ride one of those danged old mustangs! he isnt pinto, though, he is a sorrel.  and i guess hero is certainly a relative concept.  my mustang gorgeous george is a hero to me.  he has done a lot in a short period of time.  if he never got to ride another mile, he has made his mark in my heart.   ed kilpatrick m30722  sneads, florida (in the heart of the panhandle)
