Re: [RC] Heroes/Hildago - rides2far

The Long Riders are into Life Changing experiences,
not just one day feats and victories and losers markers every 100
yards.

I "Loser's markers?" Hmmm...wanna swap licks...should I call them the
"Road Rider's Guild?" Let's not . There is plenty of difference between
our type of distance riding and theirs though. They have people who have
taken a 20,000 mile treck across roads from South America to Alaska. We
have Trilby, who has ridden over 25,000 miles of TRAILS...enjoying the
terrain a horse was meant to travel on. I'd personally rather ride
circles in every bit of National Forest than try to figure out how to get
my horse across an expressway bridge every other day. To each his own.

What they do is more visable to passers by. Not many people see what we
do but I'd rather feel a horse's muscles stretching out at a trot a
little without having to worry about my house bouncing off my packhorse.
I'd rather hear his hoofbeats on dirt and listen to his breathing than
listen for the sound of an approaching truck and watch for bottles in the
ditch I'll have to get over in. Just because we don't ride in a linear
path doesn't mean we don't get anywhere. It's certainly changed *my*
life.

P.S. It's gonna take some killer "swimmies" to get those horses across
the Atlantic in that round the world ride.

Angie
