Re: [RC] 2001 Dodge problem - Sullivan

Manual or automatic?  I have a one ton 1999, manual, just under 50,000.  No problems at all.

Subject: [RC] 2001 Dodge problem

Hi,

We?ve got a 2001 Dodge Ram Cummins Turbo Diesel.  It has recently developed this bucking behavior that seems to vary with the temp of the truck, temp outside, rpms and who knows what else. It feels like a lack of fuel.  It is worse on acceleration over 2000 rpm, uphill, with a load.  Some history on the truck ? it has been run out of fuel once, but all the injectors seem to be working fine.  It also has an exhaust brake installed.  But the problem didn?t occur specifically around either of those events, but definitely after the fuel problem.

There has been no check engine light and Dodge says they can?t do anything unless there are codes to diagnose.

I thought I remembered a problem like this discussed a long while back, but don?t think there was a solution.  Thought I remembered comments that Dodge claimed the exhaust brake voided the warranty which shouldn?t be the case.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Marlene
