Hi Karla -- if you haven't already change to

Be sure to use a crupper as it will keep the saddle back and stop the
girth from moving forward even if you have a sausage shaped horse. 
With my shortest backed horse I also had to remove the strands that hold
the longer strings (lengthwise) of the mohair girth together.
