Just got back from Red Rock. Tough Ride, from what I heard and saw from crew for 5 riders. Most of the 100 mile riders Rider Optioned out due to lack of water and food on the trail. They did not feel comfortable enough taking their horses out in the conditions again. The 2nd half of the 2nd loop was 17 miles with no water for 3 hours and they had to crawl through a fence to get it. The fastest time in to that vet check was 3:50. Most of the riders were around 4 hours. In many cases the riders felt nervous about going out and having been out on the trail with little to no water. I am just thankful for the 100 mile riders, they knew how to take care of their horses under these conditions. Ride Management has assured everyone that there will more water put out for the championship ride, so it will not be an issue.
