[RC] [Guest] Small Horses and Endurance - Ridecamp Moderator

I too have what I guess you might classify as a small horse with a good
story. My morab mare is 14.2, stocky with a broad back. I am a
middleweight rider (enough said about that) <g> .
Last weekend I did a 75 on her. The night before the ride I was showing her
to a couple other of the 75 mile riders. One lady made that comment that my
mare looked kind of heavy. I just said that is pretty much her riding
weight, but she had a mighty trot.
This was quite a hilly ride. A lot of up hill climbing. But to make a long
story short, we all started out together on the first loop. I pulled ahead
on the second loop. I was leaving for my third loop at the same time they
were coming in from their 2nd. I guess they were questioning the vets about
our speed and if my mare was able to keep up that pace. Guess she could
because we finished 3 1/2 hours before they did. Mare was tired, but EDPP
well and CRI's were not bad. Was really proud of my little short mare.
P.S. Live in the hills, train in the hills, able to compete in the hills.
