Re: [RC] [RC] RE:splash - Jonni JewellI am also keeping two poinies and their foals, one mare paws in the trough, now her baby is doing it, but not the other mare or foal. <<< Wait until you are on a ride that the only water for miles is a nasty low water trough with sharp edges. I was at a ride like that down near Boulevard CA. some years ago. I had squeezed my legs for my horse to step a little closer, and I don't know if it was the grass hiding the fact it was a trough and not a stream or what, but before I knew it, he had both front legs IN the trough. Thankfully, he got out without hitting the sharp rusty edge. Can't imagine having one reach out to paw at the water to "cool" themselves on one of those. I find I am pretty good at cooling them myself with a sponge or a scoop while they drink. And drinking is what I want them to spend their time doing at a water crossing. Not playing, not looking around...drinking.... Jonni =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
