Colleen McGraw cmcgraw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx OK...in general, I think most would agree that it is an advantage to be lighter. Less weight for the horse to carry, no? I thought weight categories were created so that lighter people wouldn't always have an advantage over their heavier fellow competitors. If a heavyweight wants to compete directly with featherweights, there is no problem because the heavyweight is in theory disad- vantaged by his higher weight. That's why you can always ride in a lighter category than your real weight, but not in a heav- ier one.
