[RC] Riding in mud - C. Eyler

After five years of drought, we're now in a cycle of never-ending rain.  Some days heavy, some days light -- but rain almost every single day for weeks and weeks.  Since I've been riding for less than seven years, I have little experience with riding the hills around here in very soggy, boggy conditions.

How do you folks in the Pacific northwest do it?  I've been trotting the flats (what there are of them) and the uphills, and walking the downhills because it seems too dangerous to trot downward slopes that are so soft and mushy.  Am I just too squeamish?  How do I ever get any real conditioning done?
