Stanislaus National Forest and this is from what he looked up on his old maps.

There is a pack station between Dodge River and Bell
Meadow at a place called Aspen Meadow. Aspen Meadow is just south of Dodge
Ridge and about 1.5 miles to the northwest of Bell Meadow. There is
another pack station at Dodge Meadow about 3 miles to the southwest of Aspen
Meadow. Trail 4N09 goes from Pinecrest west to Aspen Meadow. There
are several camps about 1 mile to the west of Hwy 108, but there are no
identifiable horse camps.
