[RC] random trail surface observation - Ed Kilpatrick

we do a week long pleasure trail ride in tennessee each summer.  it is very hilly, well more like mountains. there are usually about 400-500 horses there for the week. the trails are well worn, up and down the hills, creek banks, etc.  erosion is minimal, due to the facts mentioned previously and also just because the soil is compacted by the many horses that pass on these trails.  kind of shoots down that idea about horses causing erosion and ruining the area.      ed
