[RC] Is it possible to compete on a wee small budget? - Tamara Alice Taylor

Hi list,

My husband and I are both full time university students. We have a very teeny tiny budget. I was wondering if it is possible to compete on a shoestring? I own an AWESOME horse who is very sound with a great mind, excellent metabolism, clean legs and big feet. He's 13 and I've been riding him for 10 years. I used to 3-Day event when I was in high school (back when my parental units paid for everything).

I have a good eventing saddle and bridle, feed buckets, blankets, wraps, etc. Is it possible to use this equipment to compete in? Are there any endurance specific "must-have" items I need in addition? Also we would need to rent a trailer. We don't own a portable corral or other similiar fencing system. Would it work to tie to the trailer and hand-walk him regularly to keep him from stiffening up at the competition? We recieved all the human-camping stuff we need as wedding gifts. I hope we can do this as I'm really looking forward to my first 25 next summer.

Thanks RC,

Tam
