For several years in the late 1980's we had an active polocrosse team 
here in Santa Ynez and even hosted a regional tournament.  It was 
great fun -- my stepdaughter competed with a couple of my Peruvian 
Pasos, giving them a great base when we later took up distance 
riding!  It did get a little rugged towards the end -- we had a 
number of polo riders who came out and they didn't appreciate -- and 
the referees didn't get on their cases enough -- that polocrosse 
wasn't as much of a contact sport as polo!  But that was just our 
club -- I still see clubs and members I recognize at
