[RC] shivering horse - Barb Reid

My gelding has developed a strange behavior lately and I
was wondering if anyone had any ideas about this. In the
last 2 months he has suddenly started 'shivering' while
tied to the trailer. Not every time but maybe every other
time. It happens at home, at trailheads when we're alone,
at trailheads with lots of other horses. Sometimes before
the ride, sometimes after, sometimes not at all. He
shivers all over his body, like he's cold but I know he's
not. It doesn't seem to effect his ride or his behavior.
I can't pin down any reason or situation that would be
causing this but I'm getting concerned.

One more question. Same gelding had tons of LSD and was in
terrific shape until my working schedule got out of hand.
Then he had just light pleasure riding for almost 2 years.
This spring we did some serious conditioning again and in
just 3 months he feels like he's right back where he was
when we had to back off on our riding. Could this be true,
could he really be this fit this fast or does he need to
build up the bone and muscle all over again? I don't want
to hurt him just because 'he' thinks he's ready to go.
