[RC] What can you tell me about Tennessee Walkers and other gaited breeds? - Karen Casemier

I am currently looking for a trail horse for my husband. I've been seeing some ads for some very nice-sounding walkers and other gaited horses. I am not that familiar with the gaited breeds, and would like to get some general information about them. My husband does not plan on doing any competitive rides, but will hack out with me on some of my conditioning rides. I thought a gaited horse might be nice because I could do the majority of my ride at the trot for conditioning purposes and he could just comfortably gait along. Is that a safe assumption? My horse is a little Morgan mare - when she is well conditioned, will she have any problems keeping up with a gaited horse?

Any comments/opinions are welcome.

Karen & Mazzie
