[RC] training pushy young horse - Ed Kilpatrick

lysane,  you really need to get those clinton anderson tapes on groundwork.  he calls it lunging for respect.  step by step instructions on how to deal with this.  i attended one of his clinics and some people there had this problem with their horses.  didnt take long to get it straightened out!! your dressage whip is not stout enough to do what you need to do here.  when she pushes into you while lunging(longeing?  sp?)  you need that 4 ft. long fiberglass stick with the nice rubber handle.  whack her on the butt to get her off of you.  and those examples you give of her charging people?  that is some bad behavior.  you have my permission to whack her when she charges you, but under no circumstances should you hit her harder than another horse would kick her with both hind feet!  get the picture? hit her like she was somebody else's horse.     ed
