[RC] QH/Arab cross - Lysane Cree

Jennifer,

Being a Paint horse owner myself, I'm hoping you go
with the Paint stallion :)
I think that a QH/Arab would make a good cross, and it
seems others on ridecamp have had success with this
type of cross. I would just add, that you should
consider the type of QH that you are crossing with.
There are different types within the breed as I'm sure
you know. And this goes for Paints as well. Check out
the horse's bloodlines - if they are mostly halter
horses in his pedigree, these ones tend to have huge
hind ends and I would worry about tying up with those,
even if crossed with an Arab. And many halter horses
are not really bred with "athletic ability" in mind.
But if you go with the ones that are more along the
lines of cutting/reining bloodlines, I think it could
make a great cross with an Arab. Also, the QH and
Paints that have racing bloodlines (and Thoroughbred
blood) could make good crosses with Arabs. Or a horse
that has proven itself to be an "all-around" type,
successful in several disciplines.
Hope that helps,

Lysane
