[RC] Boarders - Tamara TaylorWhen I was 11 through til I was 16 years old I boarded at a terrible place. I did chores in exchange for lessons. I painted the fences, barns, babysat til 2- 3 in the morning, mucked stalls (both horse stalls and the pig barn where piglets were often found dead under the straw). The things we do for horses! My lessons comprised of me riding my horse while the 'instructor' yelled instructions out the window when she had a minute to look out and check on me. I worked my butt off and it was not a rewarding experience. But because of that I have vowed that should I ever board horses at my place I would treat them MUCH better. If I was closer I would JUMP at a chance to have a riding buddy on at a small well-equipped facility! It sounds like the perfect situation! Perhaps you could advertise at the vet college or at rides where you have a better chance of finding a concientious and knowledgable horse person. If you can find someone that is a hard worker and easy to get along with it sounds like a great win-win situation to me!
