[RC] WNV - anyone know how risky lower MI is? - Sarah W

I'm in a real indecision on vaccinating for WNV. I
did not last year and only heard about more problems
with vaccinated horses than non-vaccinated horses in
my area (Mid, lower MI). A previous boarder at my
farm had to put a filly down after she got the vaccine
last year, however, that could have also been due to
the amount or method administered by the owner (not a
very competent owner IMO) and the neighbor's neighbors
young stock got sick after the vaccine. I know I will
be taking at least one of my guys around the state
this year, but the others will be staying home - 2
coming yearlings, 1 coming 2yo. Any thoughts on the
problems in my area? Amount that should be given to
the younger horses? Any help is appreciated.
