[RC] Picky Eater also Susan G - Celeste Murray

Hi

I have a gelding I am doing 50's on that is an extremely picky eater. He
gets a 10% pelleted horse ration won't eat a higher protein, he likes
crushed maize and whole oats (doesn't like it rolled or crushed and here is
my question for Susan G: Do I have to soak the whole oats before feeding as
he doesn't like it soaked?) he will also eat a small amount of peanut husks
(not the shell the fine brownish skin on the roasted peanut itself) he gets
a supplement "thrive" and 200ml of corn oil once a day (would sunflower oil
be as good? its way cheaper) any ideas on how I could mix what he likes in a
balanced way and would keep the weight on?

He gets four meals a day 7am, 12am, 6pm and 9pm (he won't eat more than 3kg
of feed a meal) as well as two large haynets of hay at night in the stable,
he is turned out all day in a paddock with mediocre grazing with other
horses and I am not able to offer free choice hay throughout the day.

Thanks
Celeste
(SOUTH AFRICA - so please don't suggest Beet Pulp!! :-))
