[RC] wood/bark chewing - Ed Kilpatrick

watch this mare closely when you can to make sure that she is not cribbing.  i have a quarterhorse who is a cribber.  at first i thought he was just chewing the boards,  but i caught him in the act of pulling back and making that UMMPHH!  sound.  check the mare's upper front teeth for signs of abnormal wear.  true cribbers will often wear those teeth down to the gumline. and when they get into the habit, they will crib no matter how much feed or hay you give them.  i got a miracle collar for the qh gelding.  it works!    ed
