Hey Tim,
     I love my toklat pad,  I have the double thick oversized endurance 
pad,  I like that the pad comes down so far so I never have a problem with 
the cinch rubbing.  I did all three days at Gator Run with it and still 
loved it,  I don't really think it holds that much heat, have also done hot 
summer rides and not had a heat problem.  If  you are really concerned 
about holding heat the Dixie midnight keeps the sweat rolling down their 
side and prevents the pad from holding sweat.  These pads do hold a little 
sweat, okay----maybe a lot of sweat but I still love mine.  I use the 
square coolback under my western saddle and have been pleased, used to use 
it under my endurance saddle but got a minor rub from the girth ring and 
then switched to the endurance version.  Try it, I think you'll like
