We pay .9 LE per litre so it's probably about LE 3.5 per gallon for gas 
(diesel is .80 LE per  litre). Prices are regulated by government.  
When you divide by the CURRENT exchange rate of LE6 to the dollar, this 
looks brilliant about 60 cents US per gallon.  BUT and it's a very big 
but, for 10 gallons of gas you will pay roughly LE 35, which for many 
people is more than one tenth of their monthly income.  Milk is LE 2.5 
per litre or about LE 9 per gallon, and most people need milk more.

Prices are extremely relative....one reason that economics courses 
drove me crazy.
