[RC] re: Parkes proposal # 4 - Teresa Van Hove

Well I like the confidentiality. I think the thought of anyone being
able to get all the reports and possibly attack you for a horse death
from a horse got into the feed room and colic'd, or horse ran thru a
fence, ... or something else totatlly unrelated to having ridden an
endurance ride a few weeks ago could lead to fear and and doubt and
unwillingness to comply. Lack of confidentiality could also make
witnesses reluctant to provide statements in some situations where
there perhaps was mismanagement of the horse by the rider or owner
related to the endurance ride.

The vet committees report gets published in EN under Parkes proposal.

    D. The official Veterinary Committee report on any horse fatality
received by the Board be made available to
members on request (with any appropriate copying charge) and be published in
Endurance News.

If those reports are inadequate then all of AERC will know it and can
demand better. If a member feels the vet committee report was unfair
to them, they can submit their side of the story and request any other
witnesses to also voluntarily publish their statements. All AERC
memebers on this list should carefully read the full propasal
themselves and comment to their BOD members. I know I hope the
proposal passes and I emailed my support of it to BOD.

THIS part, IMHO, is totally unacceptable...

THIS MEANS ONLY THE VET COMMITTEE WILL KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPENED! THE
ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP SHOULD BE AWARE OF ALL THE FACTS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE
IT, DON'T RIDE!! IMHO, THIS FIXES NOTHING AND SIMPLY LEADS TO FEAR,
  UNCERTAINTY AND DOUBT.
