    I took my lead rope and looped it under his tail while I was riding in the
    arena. I would stand him still and put some pressure on the rope gradually
    building up until I was "really leaning into it". I've never had a buck or
    anything with this method. You can release the pressure on the tail
    instantly if they start to get nervous or uncomfortable with it and try some
    more when the calm down. Incidentaly I also teach mine to bit using the lead
    rope in the mouth too. They are such a useful peice of equipment :-)
