RE: Re: [ectra] Warm Weather

I spent a winter riding in Augusta GA and Aiken SC. Really sweeeeet! Pretty
darn mild compared to most standards and even if it rained the region has
sandy soil so the footing was just fine, never deep or slick. Aiken is a
lovely old town and has a large horse "park". It is used for drag hunts
(phoney fox chasing)horse shows, cross country training and conditioning.
Very large acreage. To avoid mud and slick red clay you need to stay
somewhat coastal to keep to the sandy soil. Course, then you don't have any
mountains.

I grew up in Tennessee, and Feb there is still pretty raw. And rainy. Most
of the
southeast tends to be pretty rainy in the winter/spring, so you might have
to go as far as
FL/Gulf coast, or as far west as possible to get out of the moisture that
tracks up off
the gulf.

Yikes, I thought maybe NC or SC would be OK. 50 deg or 40 with no snow right
now would
feel like summer. How about you GA folks. What do you think?
