Re: forgetful? or need a doctor?

Something like this has happened to both me and my daughter! First my
daughter Allison, she was 10 at the time. We were riding at a canter when
her mare decided to buck. I turned around just in time to see her land on
her head! She was crying but seemed OK after a few minutes so she got back
on her horse and we started home. Luckily we were only a mile from home.
After a few minutes, she started saying things like, How did I get here?
and, I don't remember riding out here, also, why does my head hurt? I kept
answering her questions and talking to her, but she just kept asking the
same questions. She still doesn't remember anything that happened that
morning before the fall. She couldn't even remember her times tables, she
told me she hadn't learned them yet!
She was fine by the time I got her to the hospital about an hour or so
later.
Two months later I was riding a friend's horse(my first mistake) and he
reared up and fell on me cracking my helmet and breaking my foot. All I
remember is him raring and the next thing I knew I was staring up at the
pine trees. I couldn't figure out who that horse was that was wearing my
saddle or where I was or how I got there. Just like my daughter I kept
asking where I was and why I was there. She finally went away and wouldn't
talk to me anymore! She said I was scaring her. In my case I couldn't get up
by myself they called the ambulance and I spent the rest of the day in the
hospital. They sent me home at about 9 or 10 that night (not sure, you would
have to ask Allison) everything was still fuzzy and I was still feeling
noshes. I remember someone handing me the phone and telling me it was my
husband on the line. I didn't want him to worry so I tried to act normal
(whatever that means!) but when he asked me what happened all I could say
was that It had something to do with a horse. As if he couldn't have
guessed. I don't know if I ever got back to normal but at least I have
something to blame my brain damage on! : )
BTW both our pupils were fine too.

Lori and Allison Cox (at least that's what they tell me)
