It's an ideology ... people who go to great lengths to prevent harvesting of 
trees to be made into the lumber their, and everyone else's, houses, 
furniture, books, toilet paper, etc., etc., etc. are made of. Primarily, they 
are zeroed in on preserving redwood trees, which are native to CA, OR, and 
WA. You've probably read about people, particularly women, who establish 
themselves high up in redwood trees and live there for two years or so to 
prevent the harvesting of the tree.
