Very interesting paper on which horses did better, and which ones were most
likely to be pulled for what.  Some of their conclusions aren't exactly in
agreement with some of the 'common wisdom', but they make sense to me.

From what the paper says, you'd be somewhat more likely to encounter
lameness problems with a bigger horse (makes sense).  I can also give you
our anecdotal experience with our 1/2 Arab 1/2 App mare - she's stocky and
round, but she's completed every ride she's been in, top 10'd several
times, and is often in the running for BC.

I think the proof is in the pudding - go out and ride some 25's on him, and
see if he seems like he's OK to go further.  He might make a fine endurance
horse -  I remember a QH cross that used to compete back in the southeast
that you just couldn't keep up with.
