The 25th Annual Fire Mountain Endurance Ride occured near Ridgecrest CA. on January 17th of 2003. Steph and I had the opportunity to attend and enjoy this beautiful event. Ride Managers Sue and Mike Benson provided excellent trails and accomodations (and pre/post ride food and drink:). The trails and the views are possibly the calling cards of this ride, first run in 1979!!
This is the first year that a 75 has been offered and it was well attended with 20 starters in the event. The 50 started 53, and the 30 milers started 26 teams. It was a great ride with no vet lines, GREAT P/R and vetting.
I think this was the shortest haul Steph and I have ever made to an event. About 1.5 miles from Jackie Bumgardners house (where we are staying and establishing a local EnduranceNet hot-spot:).
As part of the southern California winter tour, Fire Mountain should be on your ice&snow escape calendar!!!
