VV Rules

Two Divisions2

1Registration is accomplished by:
  1. Joining the My-Endurance.net social network
  2. Joining the 2009 VVClassicgroup at my-endurance.net
  3. sending your google idto The Virtual Ride Manager
2These "divisions" have very little meaning until we can get Garmin to sponsor GPSs for the winners of the GPS division and Google to sponsor winners of the hand-drawn

All entrants must keep their own vet card (shared spreadsheets provided) and do their own CRI and Gate2Hold exams.

Competition rules are as specified by some endurance association somewhere (AERC, AERA, Argentine Federation, FEI, etc)

Mutiple Equines may be registered for each entrant!

Details will be provided as needed:)

Your Basic Rules

This is a virtual event. It's the first of it's kind and the rules for this first one will reflect that. There are not very many of them.

Rule #1: Follow the Rules of your favorite Ride/Race Sanctioning Organization!

You don't have to declare what organization that might be, what the language is that the rules are written in, but you need, between you and your horse, to know that you are following the rules. Don't cheat or try to gain unfair advantage. Just Ride Well and Ride Far!

As it is not possible to cut trail, or miss turns or be overtime on this ride, you will have to rely upon yourself for pacing and directions! Ride Management encourages you, first and foremost, to keep in mind the needs of your mount!

The Very Virtual Endurance Ride FAQ

From time2time, there will be questions. These will be listed in the VV FAQ. If the question you have is not found here, Please feel free to ask it of the general community of riders and we will find an answer to it, for -- All Questions about the VV Classic have answers! Some answers are easier to find than others!

Trails

Any and all trails with which you are familiar may be ridden for mileage in the VV Endurance Events. The only criteria is that the trail be logged via GPS to the web site www.motionbased.com, or that the trail be made made available as a Google Earth .kmz file. Trails ALL have a start point and and end point. Some trails may have 1 phase, while others may have multiple phases.

Ride Control Points

All riders will be responsible for following the rules of their choosen organization with respect to evaluation their mount. Gate2Hold protocols with standard parameters must be recorded by the entrant. You will be required to take your pulse, do CRIs and evaluate lameness, hydration, gut sounds, and impulsion for your mount. If you are riding alone, you will have to do these evaluations yourself.

Riding Safe - Riding Smart

While we encourage all entrants to ride with others, it will often be the case that you may choose to ride alone. Safety is the most important consideration. Riders are encouraged to always ride with a cell phone and partners if possible!
