Sierra Fadwah +/

A tribute to the legendary Endurance sire and his offspring

With an interest in endurance riding, Lorry Wagner, of Sierra Dawn Arabians in Ridgecrest bred her mare, Judhi, Bezatal's only full sister to Fadjur at the Jack Tone Ranch. The result of that breeding was Sierra Fadwah+/, now a 15'2 hand chestnut stallion. Ultimately Lorry's interest turned more to the show ring and Jim and I were able to purchase Fadwah in 1980 at age seven . He began his endurance career shortly thereafter.

Possessing the elegance and charisma of his dam and the wonderful presence and disposition of his sire endeared him to us immediately as it did to those who knew him, competed with him and later rode him. In the end he carried over thirty different riders through rides including eleven year old Ellisa Gilbert our neighbor's daughter on her first 50.

During his years on the endurance trail he completed the Tevis Cup twice for Jan Davis when her horse came up lame at the last minute. He completed the 250 mile XP Rides several times and was the first stallion to complete the 200 mile Capitol to Capitol from Carson City to Sacramento. A son, Sierra Fadrazal+/, later won the event in 1987. Fadwah was the first stallion to complete over 7000 endurance miles, winning the Jim Jones Award in 1983. He was the Reserve National Middleweight Champion in 1988 and in 1992 elected to the American Endurance Ride Conference's Hall of Fame.

To date, Fadwah and his get have gone over 55,000 endurance miles. His son Sierra Fadrazal+/ has gone over 8000 miles and another son Sierra Fad Farrah over 5000 with several over the 3000 mile mark. His get have excelled not only in the show ring, dressage arena, and in the Snaffle Bit Futurity but also on the track. They have earned close to $60,000 to date with four sons and daughters bringing home over 20 wins. A son, Fadwah Marchoy, won the $20,000 Arabian Cup Sprint at Los Alamitos bringing his lifetime earnings to over $45,000. He will begin his endurance career at age 9 in 1999. Fancy Two won her first two outs at Los Alamitos and will at age 8 also begin her endurance career in 1999. Fire Mt. Flash in 1998 has earned close to $15,000 with approximately 15 starts and 6 wins.

On the endurance trail in 1998 Fire Mt. Flikka was selected to represent the US at the WEG in Dubai with 7 wins and 6 BC's to her credit. Fire Mt. Fargo (also a winner at the track) was first and BC at both the Washoe 100 and the Desert Pines 100. Fadladdie with Marilyn Smart was Overall BC at the 1998 Renegade Ride and Fire Mt. Flikka was also Overall BC at the 1997 Death Valley Encounter. Fadladdie and Fire Mt. Cinder both completed all five days of the Fall XP and General Geranium, a son, was BC at the Gardnerville Gallop Ride and Tie. Fire Mt. Cinder and Katie's Image both Fadwah daughters finished well at the 1998 Ride and Tie Championships-Cinder, Top Ten and 2nd Woman/Woman Team and Image, Top Fifteen, and 5th Man/Man team. All in all 1998 has been a great year for us at Fire Mt. Arabians.

Sierra Fadwah has served as the family pack horse, carried the American Flag at the Antelope Valley Horse Show, helped us explore many new trails for the endurance rides we put on and truly been a very important part of our family. His Hall of Fame plaque says it all:

"Many of the stars we see in the night sky died millions of years ago, and yet we see their light. So it will be with Sierra Fadwah+/. His greatness will shine on for future generations of equestrians through the memories of those who loved him and the continuing preformance of his offspring. Sierra Fadwah+/ is truly a star in the constellation of endurance performance."
