Re: RC: Convention Trade Show

Cheap shot Joe. Do you prefer office workers who just skim off the money
they need from the general funds, or the ones who simply sue us? We've
already tried that approach haven't we?

Are you all DETERMINED to destroy everyone who tries to take the helm or
what? I just got my new Endurance News. It looks GREAT. There is an
EXCELLENT story in there about the Cosequin Challenge. It is probably
the best coverage of an endurance ride I have ever read. It made me feel
as if it had been covered by a professional... instead of like I was
reading a letter from a friend of just one rider like most of our reports
read. Whoever wrote it knew endurance and knew how to report. The
author is not listed, but the turn around in quality undoubtably occured
after Doyle took over.

At one time I called Endurance News "Endurance Pravda" I honestly felt
that the news was filtered to us, the "letters" section went from being a
place where people wrote and complained, to publishing Thank you notes
that had been sent to the office.

Since Doyle took over I have had EXCELLENT service from AERC...something
new in itself. He has maintained a positive atmosphere (is this a
problem to those who preferred a place to whine?...you've still got
Ridecamp for that...obviously)

I have heard some insinuate that AERC is paying for his travels. I am on
the media committee and I know we were voted some sort of budget this
year. If his travels have been supplemented by this budget (No way it
could cover everything) and *if* he wrote the Cosequin coverage...and has
provided us with the all new color photo section...I challenge you to
find anyone from another major publication who would charge you less.

I haven't volunteered for any of the jobs...coverage of the Championship
Series, Tevis, OD, etc. I couldn't afford it, even with a small stippend
from AERC. Right now I'm supposed to interview a vet and write a story
for Endurance News. This will require an extended Long Distance phone
call, and ...believe it or not....it takes quite a few hours to write the
story. I imagine if I turned in the phone bill *some* would insinuate
that I was just enjoying free phone service complements of AERC. Do you
want content or not?

In our local horseclub there are a few old goats who sit on one side of
the room and consider themselves the guardians of the club's funds. If
we need money to run our endurance ride out of the general fund, they act
as if we're trying to steal it. Never mind that the endurance riders
were the only ones who'd contributed to building up the money in years.
Well, we fixed that, we seperated the endurance account and guess
what...the ones who want to bury the money in a jar are watching their
raisin slowly shrivel while our fund grows. It's a shame AERC can't do
the same. Like Randy said, there's MORE money since they made changes.
Quit trying to act like they're stealing something YOU put there.

Angie
