I think the "you" is being taken too personally in Gesa's post. SOME
(obviously not all) horse people (be it endurance, LDers, CTR, whatever) get
carried away. I can understand where Gesa is coming from in her post,
because I've seen some really nasty stuff involved in LD RACING (hence my
terrible prejudice -- and I do realize it is a prejudice). I would like to
see BC recognized in LD regardless of placing (even after top 20) -- I do
know that this would be very difficult and time intensive for the vets.
BUT....in a perfect world, eh? Maybe that's why we have CTR. I thoroughly
enjoy both sports and enjoy "crossing over". As far as the adrenaline thing,
I'm pretty sure (Gesa, correct me) that she was referring to the HORSE's (or
mule's :) adrenaline, which can be a very powerful thing and mask quite a
number of problems. Bottom line (in my NSHO :) is that LD is a TRAINING
distance. To be an ENDURANCE rider, you need to ride 50's + (there are those
who think you have to do multi-days or 100s). That pretty much sums it up.
If this sounds "arrogant", I'm sorry, but I've worked hard to be able to call
myself an "endurance rider" and I don't take it lightly.

Sylvia
