Re: Breeding theories (was *Muscat)

Hi Heidi I wonder if the health of the geriatric animal over their
lifetime as well as in the present, would have anything to do with it?
I learned something interesting about stallions fairly recently(took up A.I.
and shipping semen) A stallion that is worked fairly hard on a regular
basis will actually have his semen count drop. I always was taught to keep
the stallions well exercised. I guess all that did was help to keep their
heads screwed on straight. A friend of mine Pennie Ahmed has become quite
an expert on collecting and shipping semen. I was fascinated with all that
I have learned from her. She also has a book out for the layman on shipping
and using the shipped product in order to have as successful an experience
as possible. If ya want to see her web site look up www.shippedsemen.com
A lot of vets have purchased her book. I was amazed at how many didnt have
a clue why the mares they were A.I.ing werent conceiving. So far, thanks to
Pennie, over the past 3 years I have had a 100 percent conception rate. She
owns Center Point Insemination Station. A lot of horse owners take their
mares to her and she does all of the prelim stuff to the mares and then has
the semen shipped in and breeds the mares for the clients. She has a 98
percent conception rate on mares of all breeds and ages. Oh well that was
my FYI for the day. Happy trails gesa n clovis
