Angie, it sounds like you have both a good hubby and a good philosophy.
Riding was also one of the few things that made my Dad really happy, and my
Mom couldn't care less if she ever saw another horse. But she wanted Dad to
be happy, and trooped along with him to his endurance rides (I think she only
missed one), and did the "people" part of the crewing--made him sandwiches or
whatever, and looked after HIM. We had a lady who boarded her horse with us
who would ride with Dad--and my folks have been happily married since God was
a child and are secure with each other so that Dad's riding with this lady
didn't ruffle any feathers. In fact, Mom was thrilled because it made Dad
stick to a riding schedule and helped get him in shape. We had a really nosy
neighbor who used to "spy" on Dad, and one day she called my Mom up to break
the "bad news" that my Dad was frequently seen hauling off to ride with "some
woman." Mom's retort was, "Oh, yes, isn't it WONDERFUL??"

Dad no longer rides (he is 80) but he and Mom celebrated their 58th
anniversary this past April, and in all those years I've never known a time
that they didn't hold hands...
