shopping spree

I'm off to the western US mostly (my longest stop will be near Austin
Texas..Ft.Hood area) for a few weeks with my daughter. Supposedly we are
looking at colleges but I will be bringing back goodies. My shopping
list at this point includes some Toklat pads and Woofer brushing boots.
The gravel in the desert can really nick up the lower legs, but boots
tend to trap sand and wraps tend to be hot...nuff heat here otherwise.
One friend of mine uses Woofers and says they are cut high enough that
the sand isn't a problem. I'd like to get a heart monitor but I'd need
something that is basically idiotproof and indestructible since service
will be a moot point.  Suggestions?
