In this case common sense doen't have to pan out. I think contractile
volume has been mentioned before in this thread. Larger hearts don't
neccessarily mean more volume is pumped per beat. If we were to
ascribe adjectives, a large lazy heart could pump less per beat than a
small hard working one.
