Results of the first Pinetree endurance (Waterford, Maine)

The weather turned out to be hot, humid (so humid you could cut the air
with a knife), with intermittent showers/thunder - just your normal
weekend in Maine in summer!  We had riders from North Carolina, Canada,
and all over New England.  The volunteers came from everywhere - it was
wonderful to have so many volunteers - and we thank everyone for pitching
in to help make this race (Tom's first as manager!) so successful.  Prior
to the weekend, Maine experienced 10 days straight of rain - 12 inches
fell in a 72 hours period - causing ride management to have to re-route 30
miles of trails, because of flooding and river crossing that became 10
feet deep!  Friday, hours before vet-in, we were out marking and
rechecking trails, and Friday night Pat Corr was out at 10:00 pm placing
trailer mats over bridges that were questionable due to the water damage!
Some of the nicer pipeline trails and woods trails had to be bypassed due
to mud and flooding.  But it all came together, again thanks to everyone
who dug in and helped.
