Hi Linda,

There are many who rode for years, then took a break. When I returned
from grad school, AERC staff explained the "research process" and the
associated costs. I said "no thanks" when I found out how "old" AERC
records are kept: boxes and boxes of ride reports kind of sorted by
year. Historical last name files do not exist (i.e. there were no AERC
numbers in the begining.) Our new records system is automated and data
files are archived. But if your miles were pre-computer, you are a
time-intensive project waiting to happen.

If there is enough interest, we could organize a workday and pizza party
to sort the old files and organize ride histories. Perhaps then
research time and fees might be reduced and more folks can regain milage
credit.

I've already spoken to our new AERC Executive Director, Doyle Patrick,
and he would be willing to host such an event if there is interest among
Ridecampers and others in the Auburn, CA. area. Let me know...
