If the horse's problem is indeed carbohydrate related, get a copy of the 
article from the most recent issue of the Journal of the American Veterinary 
Association (1998;212:1588-1593) which describes a study in which horses
 who had a history of 
exertional rhabdomyolysis  were put on a low carbo, high fat diet and this 
diet was evidently very effective. Examples of the diets were included in the 
article. the title is 'Dietary Control of Exertional Rhabdomyolysis in Horses'
and the first author is Beth A. Valentine, DVM, PhD. good luck -Amy
