D- rings to Synthetic Saddles

I have a old Wintec Dressage Saddle that I ride endurance in. No
D-rings to start with. I contacted saddleries and asked them to add
rings, they laughed and said you can't. So I went to a boating shop,
got some, um, not D-rings, but shaped like the omega sign, that are
used for securing ropes on boats (at least they were on my Sea Kayak
when I got it). I also got some nice screws, and just screwed the
metal brackets into the plastic that lines the back of the seat on the
saddle (right above the synthetic tree). I put one in for the
crupper, and two more on each side for a total of five. They are very
secure, and I have not had a single one give out. And I tie a lot of
stuff on them. Now, you don't want to do this if you're ever thinking
of selling the saddle, because I'm sure it will affect the value in a
negative manner. But I've done so many alterations to this saddle,
that nobody would buy it, but it's comfort level is great!

Let me know if you need more explicit details. I could always fax a
     picture.

Does anyone know of a simple way to add Dee rings to a synthetic
     saddle.
