yes john --i use both   the heat packs work ok but can get quite hot in
the shoe/boot-- i bought a pair of gloves that have a bladder and little
tubes to each finger.. the heat pack is place in a palm pocket.. you
pump your hand to move the fluid  around the glove.

i have electric gloves and boot inserts too. the 'c' size battery last
about 3 hours..was warm enough in PA winter

a bit too hot here in TN.. i use the fluid gloves with out the heat
pack. just heat them up on the heater in the house before i go out.

got the fluid gloves from REI and the electric items from Campmor

but they are almost every-where now.
