Jerry, I guess the non-members are an easy victim to pick on when the
AERC wants money.  (I can get as demagougic as you can)

All riders support the AERC with the sanction fees.  I know of no one
wanting to eliminate them.

But there are lots of sports that don't charge extra for non-members
of the sponsoring club.

I do distance running, and I've never run into non-member fees at such
events.

Endurance riding is not a horse show, and I see no reason to emulate a
bad aspect of a horse show.

A ride sets its fees according to its costs and the number of riders
it can expect at those fees.  The AERC's ten bucks is what throws the
monkey wrench into the works.

I'll leave it, thank you.  By not having any AERC sanctioned LD rides.
My ride will either use CTR or not be held at all.  It's called
"voting with your feet."
