Strongid C and rain slickers

Odd combination eh?  Anyway I have two questions:
There was some controversy involving the Strongid C product...what is the
general opinion on this product..along with any knowledge of current
research.

Also, I was wondering if anyone out there knows of anyone making rain
slickers (Austrailian type?) out of a Gore-Tex type of fabric?
