I don't know where this $40.00 for EN is coming from, but it certainly
isn't coming "straight from the horse's mouth," namely me. The cost of EN
depends upon which factors you wish to base your cost on: Do you want to
include a proportionate percentage of overhead, etc.

Strictly speaking -- just the cost of printing and postage -- and not
counting staff time to actually construct and publish each issue, we're
talking slightly less than $20 per year/per person. That's per year, now.
Not per issue.

So what we're talking about here is that roughly 31% of the dues AERC
members (I don't find where Patricia O'Rourke is an AERC member) pay goes
towards publication of the Endurance News (assuming we are only factoring
in the cost of printing and mailing the publication).

Endurance News may not be National Geographic, but AERC continually strives
to put out a quality publication that meets the needs of its members.
October and November issues should drive home the point to AERC's members:
AERC and its staff cares about its members and is working hard to meet the
needs and wants of its members. Working is the operational word here,
folks. We can't do everything in a day, but know that we are trying and
hope the results you see going forward validate that.
