My 2 cents.

We used to have a ride in WA, the Mt. Admas ride, and it consisted
originally of two loops, one 12 and one 13. The in and out was on the same
trail for a short ways. It was mostly trail, windy, up and down, great
footing, little rock, in the trees, BEAUTIFUL. Well people suggested to
management that they didn't like leaving camp so often and repeating. I did
the 75, that means leaving camp 6 times. My horse did balk a couple of
times, but then he did what he is supposed do, go where I ask, when I ask.

Some people suggested to management they find more trail. They did, we had
a 25 mile loop, most hard pack gravel road, with an out check. It was awful
boring. The repeat loops were much nicer.

Make a long story short, we don't have that ride any more, a great loss.
Out checks take more volunteers, more vets (which mean more $$ out for the
management). Getting volunteers to go to the out check can be tough.

I'm done. I do miss the original Mt. Adams ride though.
