OGDEN, Utah -- A 48-year-old man spent a chilly night in Antelope Island State Park after he was injured on a horse ride.

Rescuers found Kevin Criddle of Kaysville early Wednesday near Gobbler's Knob on the west side of the island, which is in the Great Salt Lake.

His brother says Criddle left for a 90-minute horse ride Tuesday afternoon. The horse apparently stepped into a hole, jerked and fell to its knees. Criddle suffered torn ligaments and a broken pelvis.

His wife reported him missing that night. Search crews found him around 4 a.m. Rescue officials say Criddle suffered hypothermia from temperatures that dipped to 16 degrees.
